Super-telescopes discovered 5,000 planets, says NASA

NASA scientists have announced that they have identified more than 5,000 planets existing beyond Earth's solar system, adding that the Kepler Space Telescope, launched in 2009 and retired in 2018, has by itself led to the discovery of more than 2,600 planets. In the announcement this week, Jessie Christiansen, research scientist with the NASA Exoplanet Science Institute at Caltech in Pasadena, said, "It is not just a number.
